CSV imports & smart lists

Current release · Updated October 2, 2026

Validate customer imports, apply atomic bulk changes and keep audiences current.

Prepare and review a CSV

Use UTF-8 CSV with a header row, up to 500 data rows and 300 KB. Open a nonfinancial record page, choose Import CSV, select the file and map each column to one field or Skip. Dates use YYYY-MM-DD, amounts use plain numbers and multi-value fields accept JSON arrays or semicolon-separated values. Include a currency code when importing monetary data.

Review validation for the whole file before applying. Invalid rows prevent the whole import; the preview shows a bounded sample and up to 20 errors. For People, choose skip, update or error for existing email addresses. Updates preserve existing values for blank CSV cells. Other objects create new records. Raw import files are not retained.

Apply and change in bulk

Applying a valid import is transactional and retry-safe with the same operation reference and content. Keep your source file until checking the resulting records. Imports do not merge duplicate people, import financial documents or queue larger files.

Select records on a page, choose a shared field update or Delete, review and confirm. A batch contains at most 100 records. Current versions are checked and the whole batch fails if a record changed. Related records still protect deletion. Refresh and reselect instead of retrying stale versions.

Create a dynamic smart list

Choose a nonfinancial object, open the smart-list editor, name the list, select Match all or Match any and add up to 12 typed conditions. Preview the matching records before saving. Text, tags, numbers, dates, selections and checkboxes support appropriate operators; JSON and relation fields cannot be filtered this way.

An amount comparison requires Match all and a Currency is condition. A saved list follows current records, rather than copying a fixed snapshot. Search and status filters intersect the saved list. You can create up to 100 lists per object. Members can edit; viewers can use lists but cannot change them.

Edit, remove and reuse an audience

Refresh if someone changes a list before your save. Removing a list retains its records. Outreach campaigns and sequences can use these rules as their source audience; launch captures the reviewed eligible contacts. Later list changes do not silently enroll new people in an already launched campaign.
